PlainSetup helps small business owners and freelancers set up the software they use every day, without hiring an IT person.
Who we write for
Our readers run small businesses in the United States, the United Kingdom and Canada, often on their own or with a small team. They are good at their work, but setting up email, invoicing, booking pages or a CRM is something they have to figure out alone, usually between client jobs. We write for that moment: you have a tool open, you want it working, and you want to understand what each setting does.
What we cover
- Email & Workspace: professional email, shared files and calendars, account security.
- Invoicing & Payments: invoices, online payments and reminders.
- Scheduling & Bookings: booking pages and appointment reminders.
- CRM & Email Marketing: customer records, pipelines and newsletters.
- Forms & Automation: forms and simple automations.
When two tools solve the same problem, we publish honest comparisons so you can choose based on what you actually need.
What we don’t cover
PlainSetup explains how software works. We do not give tax, accounting, legal or investment advice. When a guide touches on those areas, for example sales tax settings in an invoicing tool or consent rules for email marketing, we point you to official sources and recommend talking to a qualified professional.
How we work
Every guide is based on the tool’s own documentation and help center, and we list our sources at the end of each article. Software changes often, so we review guides and update them when menus, features or prices change. You can read the details on our Transparency page.
